Special care for special people
Disabled people often need special care that cannot be provided by family members. They may need to be lifted or assisted with bathing and eating ... special transport ... handrails and other equipment – all of which makes caring for them at home difficult.
For this reason, most of the disabled people at our Dayanand Garden Home are long-term residents. Some are physically disabled as a result of an accident, illness or congenital birth defect. Others have intellectual disabilities.
Whatever
their limitations, with the help
of caring people like you, our aim is to ensure that their
lives are as fulfilled and functional as possible.
That means providing a range of services designed to stimulate their abilities, talents and functions ... including Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy.
Two of our residents, Jay and Ricky (pictured alongside) have started their own small business, which they run from an office on our premises. It is a privilege to be able to help these bright young men find a new niche in life.
We are fortunate to have the support of many volunteers, including trainee nurses and therapists who chose to gain experience or do community service in our home. In addition, a large staff complement is needed to ensure the proper care of these people.
